St. Kenneth icon Mounted on wood Sizes:4 X 6Orthodox icon of Saint Kenneth (Kyned, Kened, Keneth, Cenydd). Commemorated August 1. Saint Kenneth was born in the 6th century, Welsh tradition has it that he was a son of Saint Gildas the Wise. He married and had at least one son. He became a monk under Saint Illtud and was the founder of Llangenydd in the Gower Peninsula in south west Wales. He later went to Brittany, where the village of Ploumelin is the centre of his cultus.
