Where Rivers End №1 – Iceland Print Size:90x60cmArtwork Information Photographed in the Icelandic highlands, this series shows the dry remains of braided river systemsshaped by erosion, sediment, and seasonal meltwater. As the flow recedes, complex networks of channels and textures emerge, forming abstract patterns across the landscape. Without a clear sense of scale, the images appear detached from location or orientation. They reduce the terrain to form and direction, where natural processes
Slower freezing rates tend to produce larger bubbles
Each frame isolates a fleeting pattern created by freezing temperatures and still water
I was struck by their surreal textures and immense scale
along with the contrast between ice and dark water
showcasing the dynamic interplay between cold wind and snow
I realized it was layers of flower pollen drifting on the water
Thin layers of ice cover the surface
which is quite rare compared to the typical blue ice
which look almost as if they were drawn with a ruler
The absence of color also creates a sense of timelessness - a moment of perfect harmony in a world of ice that is yet so ephemeral and fragile
air becomes sealed within the ice in the form of tiny bubbles in endless variations and shapes
focusing on the intricate interplay of water and sediment during low tide and as the tide comes in
